CCE 2025

10. April 2025
The 1st International Conference on Concrete and Circular Economy (CCE2025), held from April 10 to 13, 2025, in Hammamet, Tunisia, gathered researchers and professionals to explore sustainable solutions within the concrete industry. With a central focus on circular economy and sustainability, the event offered a platform for exchanging innovative ideas on reducing the environmental impact of concrete production.

Bayram Tutkun presenting

Representing TU Wien and the UP!crete Project, PhD candidate Bayram Tutkun attended the conference alongside his supervisor, Prof. Ildiko Merta, who also served as a session chair in several panels. Bayram Tutkun presented his research titled “Evaluating the Influence of Recycled Concrete Fine Fineness on Fresh and Hardened Properties of Mortar.” His presentation showcased a preliminary study investigating how different grinding durations of recycled concrete powder affect the performance of mortar. While finer grinding increased energy consumption, it also improved strength. Environmental impact assessments suggested that, in some scenarios, longer grinding may actually result in a more sustainable outcome.

Beyond the technical sessions, the conference enabled Bayram Tutkun and Prof. Merta to engage with fellow researchers and industry professionals, fostering new academic and professional connections. These interactions opened doors for potential future collaborations aimed at advancing sustainability in the construction sector.
