Insight into modern processing: guided tour of the Mauer gravel and recycling plant

The day began with a tour of the Mauer gravel and recycling plant. Participants were given an insight into the stationary wet processing plant, which processes both construction waste and gravel. The plant demonstrates how resource-saving building material extraction and processing can be and is already being implemented today. This is a topic that also plays a central role in the UP!crete project.

Hybrid exchange: Project status and perspectives

After the tour, the group moved on to the nearby Bergland plant, where the second part of the meeting took place. The project presentations were held there in a hybrid format, with Prof. Merta and Lukas Hausner from TU Wien joining via video link. After a brief overview of organizational issues, three presentations by TU Wien highlighted the current status of the experimental campaigns. The IBO followed and presented its work. Each presentation provided an opportunity for exchange and discussion on further steps in the project.

Concrete of the future: guided tour of the Bergland plant

The day ended with a guided tour of the Bergland ready-mixed concrete plant—one of the most modern plants of its kind in Europe. Particularly impressive was the high degree of flexibility offered by the plant, whose design allows for numerous combinations for the production of innovative concretes.
